Verescence invests €16 million in Segovia plant modernisation

It increases production capacity by 34% and boosts growth and expansion.

La Granja Insulators, part of the French group Verescence and specialising in the manufacture and supply of high-quality glass insulators for electrical systems, has invested 16 million euros in modernising its plant in La Granja de San Ildefonso (Segovia). This operation will serve to boost its growth and expansion. For the time being, it has increased its production capacity by 34% and claims to be one of the most advanced facilities in the industry.

Once the refurbishment and expansion are complete, the plant will have a production capacity of four million units per year. The company, which emphasises its strong commitment to quality, innovation and sustainability in all its processes, exports 98% of its production and this operation will enable it to respond to the growing international demand for glass insulators, especially in North America, Europe and the Middle East.

Electrical system integrity
Glass insulators are small elements installed on high-voltage overhead power lines to support and insulate high-voltage electrical conductors. They are essential for maintaining the integrity of the electrical system and preventing short circuits and electric shocks. With a team of more than 500 professionals, the Spanish company has over 90 years of experience in manufacturing, during which time it has established long-term relationships with some of the world's leading electricity network operators.

There are currently more than 100 million insulators manufactured by La Granja Insulators in service, spread across 120 countries to protect electricity transmission networks of up to 765 kV. The company has developed its own technologies, such as Silglass, a silicone coating that improves the efficiency and durability of insulators, especially in highly polluted environments and extreme weather conditions.

Innovation and sustainability
The company's innovative technology helps improve the reliability of electricity networks and also contributes to reducing maintenance costs and energy losses, two key factors in the competitiveness and sustainability of high-voltage transmission networks. Furthermore, this technological advance is in line with La Granja Insulators' environmental policy, thanks to the low environmental impact of its production process.

La Granja Insulators CEO Bruno Portellano said, “Our continuous growth and commitment to innovation are key to consolidating our position as global leaders in the manufacture of glass insulators.” He is excited about the new phase that is now beginning and assured us that it will allow them to “continue contributing to the efficiency and sustainability of global electricity grids.”
