The subsidiary of Fagor Ederlan and China’s Duoli Technology will supply chassis to the Stellantis factory in Figueruelas.

Automotive structural components manufacturer Lieder Automotive, a joint venture established by Chinese company Duoli Technology and Spain’s Fagor Ederlan, has opened a new plant producing structural components for electric vehicles.

This initiative restores industrial activity at the Fagor Group cooperative’s facilities in Borja (Zaragoza) and will create jobs for more than 170 people. The production area spans more than 15,000 square metres, with 138 robots and 14 production lines set to produce up to 40,000 chassis a year. These structural components will be supplied to the Stellantis plant in Figueruelas (Zaragoza), which will fit them to Leapmotor’s B10 and B05 electric models.

Other future customers
The plant is equipped with advanced assembly processes and systems designed to ensure the standards of quality, efficiency and safety demanded by today’s automotive industry. It is also ready for future growth and to expand its capabilities to develop new components that other future customers may require.

The alliance between Duoli Technology and Fagor Ederlan brings together both companies’ industrial and technological capabilities and positions the joint venture in an automotive market in the midst of transformation.

Duoli Technology’s CEO, Jiang Jianqiang, says the new supply chain, which he describes as “stable and efficient”, is “steadily” expanding its market share in Europe, and affirms his ambition to make Lieder Automotive a benchmark for cooperation between China and Spain in the automotive industry.

An excellent example of cooperation
Fagor Ederlan CEO Jon Zuazo Urionaguena explains: “The decision to take this plant forward reflects a clear conviction that we believe in industry, in our sector’s capacity for transformation and in the importance of continuing to invest to build a competitive and sustainable future. It is a plant ready to evolve, introduce new products, serve new companies and continue expanding its capabilities in the coming years.”

In turn, for Mondragon Corporation’s Vice-President for Automotive, Íñigo Laskurain Pagaegi, Lieder Automotive is “an excellent example of cooperation: working together, suffering together and celebrating success together. In this uncertain geopolitical context, as the sector undergoes profound change, the way forward is to collaborate, combine capabilities and face challenges together.”
