Technology company Siemens has laid the foundation stone for its new corporate headquarters in Madrid, which is expected to be fully operational in early 2029. The construction of this campus underscores the German company’s long-term commitment to Spain and its expectation of future growth.

Beyond its corporate role, the building will serve as a meeting place for businesses, customers, partners and the wider innovation ecosystem. That is why its capacity of more than 3,000 people exceeds its 2,600-strong workforce.

Technology showcase
The new headquarters have been designed by architectural studio La-Hoz. Located in Madrid’s Las Tablas district, it will offer 24,000 square metres of office space and services, implementing new standards in digitalisation, sustainability and employee wellbeing, while also showcasing Siemens technologies.

Ferrovial will be the company responsible for the construction process, and the building aims to achieve several certifications, including LEED Platinum, WELL, WiredScore and SmartScore. To achieve this, it will be carbon neutral and will source some of the energy it needs to operate from an on-site photovoltaic installation and high-efficiency heat pump systems.

The campus will feature integrated electrification and power distribution systems, fire safety solutions, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and advanced building automation. Siemens’ Building X platform will be implemented, enabling the headquarters to operate on a unified digital data layer that will facilitate intelligent decision-making and continuous optimisation throughout its entire life cycle.

Long-term commitment
As the company’s Chief Financial Officer explained during the event, “Today’s groundbreaking ceremony is much more than the start of a construction project. It is a clear demonstration of Siemens’ long-term commitment to Spain, where we have had a presence for more than 130 years. Our new headquarters will bring the real and digital worlds together in a unique way, creating a living showcase for sustainable, smart infrastructure.” 

Fernando Silva, President and CEO of Siemens Spain also emphasised that the new headquarters “will help strengthen Madrid’s position as a leading hub for innovation, technology and talent, creating an environment that fosters collaboration and the development of new solutions. With this project, Siemens is strengthening its commitment to Madrid and supporting the city’s continued growth as one of Europe’s leading business and technology hubs, while driving digital and sustainable transformation from Madrid.”
