Bunzl acquires two companies in Spain for distribution of personal protective equipment and masks

The purchase of Proin Pinilla and Arprosa sees it expand its safety business and customer base

Bunzl plc, the British group specialising in international services and distribution, has recently completed the acquisition of two companies in Spain. The first, Proin Ponilla, is the largest independent distributor of safety equipment for end users in Spain, with a focus on personal protective equipment (PPE) and specialised in workwear; and the second, Arprosa, also distributes PPE to end users in Spain. "With Proin Pinilla and Arprosa we are broadening our safety offering in Spain and expanding our customer base. Year to date we have now completed eight acquisitions and with the strength of our cash generation continue to see significant opportunity to self-fund further acquisitions. Our pipeline remains active and discussions ongoing", said Frank van Zanten, CEO of Bunzl.

Bunzl has 35 years of experience in the Spanish hygiene and cleaning market and has acquired various companies, including Iberlim, Hicosa and Sudecol. It specialises in the management and distribution of non-food products such as chemicals, cellulose, single-use tableware, reception products, bags, utensils and cleaning machinery.  Its logistics centres in Spain are in Ciempozuelos (Madrid) and Sant Boi de Llobregat (Barcelona), and it has a staff of 200 employees serving over 8,000 customers in Spain.
