GFT to expand LAB in Spain to offer services to industry

The IT company wants to design and develop initiatives based on new technologies

GFT, an IT company specialized in digital transformation, has announced the remodelling and expansion of its Digital Innovation Laboratory in Spain (LAB), located at the company's headquarters in Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona). The objective is to offer a new specific space for the industry in order to design and develop initiatives based on technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain or Artificial Intelligence (AI), allowing it to plan the future of the industry.

“We have many years of experience in the financial services industry and we have helped it transform very satisfactorily digitally with some very innovative projects that have emerged from this LAB. We know how to work on innovation and how to transfer it to our customers to respond to their challenges”, said Carlos Eres, managing director of GFT in Spain. The company is convinced that it can be of great help to other sectors that are facing great challenges in digital transformation, such as the industrial sector.

The laboratory began operating in 2014 and GFT is now committed to bringing the latest technology trends and their possible applications to industrial customers, trying to identify the points where they can help them transform and starting to work with a Proof of Concept (PoCs) that is exclusive to  them. Sara Vallribera, head of the GFT LAB, highlighted that the company aims "to bring customers tangibly closer to the future and show them  how we plan the future digitization for industries dedicated to the manufacture and distribution of products, as well as sales and customer service”.

During these last seven years, the GFT LAB has become an ecosystem of collaboration with customers and partners, including some of the most cutting-edge startups. Other institutions such as universities, chambers of commerce or specific forums have also collaborated in this space, which currently has more than 30 member organizations.
