Sanofi Strengthens Digital Hub in Barcelona with Hundred New Employees

The French multinational’s innovation centre celebrates five years in the Catalan capital

French pharmaceutical company Sanofi will strengthen the workforce at its Barcelona hub by employing 100 new professionals in 2022. The Global Innovation Center opened by Sanofi in the Catalan capital in 2016 already has 300 staff members of 40 different nationalities. These professionals are responsible for accelerating the company’s digital transformation and they develop international and regional projects for different areas of the company’s business. “The critical mass of professional opportunities in Digital, which covers core business processes in Finance, Supply Chain, Data, Mobile and Sales, makes Barcelona a genuine talent incubator for Sanofi and the region,” explained Alex Press, Global Supply Chain Digital Leader, in a press statement. The hub is a strategic centre for Digital and its programmes and departments are divided into three key areas: Finance, Supply Chain and Digital.

The new additions to its team mean that Sanofi will have increased its workforce by more than 80% between 2020 and 2022. This time it is mainly looking for professionals in the Data, machine learning, SAP and software development areas. Two significant digital transformation projects with an international impact have been developed for Sanofi in Barcelona in the Supply Chain and Finance areas. The digital team is still growing and one of its biggest challenges is establishing the backbone of Sanofi’s digital transformation by implementing practical, real-time decision-making based on data from all the company’s business units. In under 5 years it has become the largest ERP in the group, managing 35% of Sanofi’s income; this is forecast to rise to 100% by 2025. “We hope to celebrate a further 5 years of exciting careers and innovative digital transformation with constant recognition of Sanofi’s excellent service and the patients that we care for around the world,” stated Press.
