Electra opens Europe’s most powerful EV charging station in Madrid
It has invested EUR 3 million in its 26 charging points, each with a capacity of up to 600 kilowatts.
French electric vehicle charging point operator Electra has opened Europe’s most powerful ultra-rapid EV charging station in Madrid, with an investment of EUR 3 million.
The new EV charging station is located in the Carabanchel neighbourhood and has a total of 26 charging points offering up to 600 kilowatts each. This setup enables drivers who choose this option to fully charge their vehicles in as little as ten minutes.
Target: 50 stations in 2027
Electra’s new station in Madrid is the brand’s 18th in Spain. The company came to Spain three years ago and has set itself the goal of achieving 50 stations in 2027. Across the nine countries in which it operates, it aims to achieve a total of 15,000 fast-charging points in 2030.
Including the Carabanchel station, Electra now has seven charging stations in Madrid, the same number as in Barcelona, as well as one in Valencia and another in Cartagena (Murcia). Its charging stations are generally strategically located in major cities, along dual carriageways and motorways, and at other key locations such as shopping centres.
The cost of charging depends not only on the kilowatts consumed but also on the charging speed chosen by the driver, depending on the charging point used. Electra aims to make electric vehicle charging as simple as refuelling with fossil fuels, i.e. without an overly long wait.
