MPO has one of its three industrial plants in Madrid, from where it provides services to national and international customers.
The French logistics company MPO specialises in co-packing, which combines the services of producing, packaging, collecting and packing its customers' products. Focused primarily on the beauty, gourmet and entertainment industries, it relies on what it describes as emotional design to create a link between the manufacturer and the consumer.
Founded in 1957 and having had a presence in Spain since 1980 through its subsidiary MPO Ibérica, the company evolved from vinyl sleeves to CD and DVD cases. In 2012, it expanded into new industries through creative, agile solutions. Last September, José Luis Nuño Hernández was appointed as the new Head of Business Development, with the aim of leading its logistics expansion in Spain.
What are your objectives as Head of Business Development for MPO Ibérica?
The objectives include, on the one hand, publicising the ad-hoc logistics services that MPO can provide to our potential clients in industries like e-commerce, entertainment, gourmet, sports, events and leisure, to name but a few. And, on the other hand, positioning MPO Ibérica as a leading logistics operator and specialising in providing 360-degree solutions to its customers, not only supporting them with the supply chain, but also offering packaging and POS services, from the design, layout, development and production of the media to the implementation and installation at the points of sale. All of this is of course provided while imparting the experience we have developed over time.
What means does the Spanish subsidiary have at its disposal?
MPO Ibérica currently has over 20,000 square metres in the Community of Madrid and a highly qualified workforce with proven experience, with staff members who are motivated and engaged in providing customers with a premium service that meets their current and future needs. Our clients greatly appreciate the professionalism, agility and quality with which we respond to their requirements, as well as their continuous and specific needs.
Your company is not a purely logistical business, as it performs a lot of design and production work. Is all this work carried out on the same premises?
Our facilities (some owned and others rented) are sized and structured to achieve the greatest efficiency and optimisation across the different processes demanded by our clients, from design to production and from supplying and receiving their products to delivering these to the final points of consumption, as well as the reverse production flows.
Logistics is an industry that has been growing rapidly in recent years. How important is it for your activity and how will it evolve?
The situation and evolution of the post-Covid market has added value to the logistics industry, giving relevance and importance to the excellence in logistics services expected by the consumer. At MPO Ibérica, we are committed to offering an omni-channel solution for the e-commerce market, implementing a fulfilment service aimed at achieving the highest levels of quality.
What investments do you foresee for your growth, both in logistics and in other areas?
With the clear objective of quality improvement and sustainable development, planned investments are geared towards automation and integration of activities and processes, as well as optimising energy efficiency in our production and supply chain environments.
Will the company's workforce also grow?
Human Resources' evolution and objectives are aligned with the development plan. MPO Ibérica evolves by adapting together with our clients to meet their needs. Human Resources implement specific plans aimed at attracting and retaining talent. We are also developing an equality plan, ensuring equal opportunities, fair processes and an inclusive work environment, strengthening effective equality within the company.
How important is Spain for the company's strategy? Does the Spanish subsidiary only work for local customers or also abroad?
MPO International has over 600 employees in four countries and three industrial plants in the European Union. MPO Ibérica operates throughout Spain (mainland and islands) and beyond our borders, providing services to national and international clients.
