EY transforms Malaga Excellence Technology to provide global services

Its staff will be expanded from the current 500 professionals to 2,000 over the next three years

Malaga's growth as a talent and innovation hub has prompted EY to reorganise its strategy regarding Malaga Excellence Technology, which it launched in 2019. The centre, currently employing 500 professionals, will become EY Global Delivery Services (GDS), with the aim of also providing services outside Spain. The objective of the GDS teams, located in 21 cities around the world, is to help the group's clients adapt to new challenges regarding consulting, strategy, tax, technology, regulation and innovation.

The new global service centre in the Andalusia Technology Park will cover 25 countries in the EMEIA region (Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa), and the 97,600 professionals working there. It will operate in collaboration with the Polish and Hungarian GDS teams to develop automated services and cutting-edge technologies.

Multidisciplinary team
GDS Malaga will employ highly qualified technical professionals in several areas, such as cybersecurity, auditing, engineering and data analysis. The workforce is expected to be expanded to 1,000 employees by 2023 and 2,000 by 2025. Although the company works with diverse, multicultural teams, the network's global VP, Srini Rao, explained that, "The vast majority of the professionals hired by EY GDS are recruited from the job market where the centre is located".

In this regard, the local head of EY GDS Spain, Luis Martín, stated, "The addition of the Malaga centre of excellence and technology to EY's global delivery network is a testament to the incredible talent, competence and opportunity there is in Malaga. This will open up new opportunities and provide global exposure to our project. We are committed to supporting local employment, nurturing digital talent and collaborating with leading local academic institutions. This is, in my opinion, more strong support to the region's digital economy."

Technopole
EY Spain Chairman and Head of Talent for Western Europe, Federico Linares, added, "If you ask me why we chose Malaga to create this delivery centre, there are many reasons, such as the infrastructure, the connections and the quality of life. But, above all, there is the local talent from Malaga and Andalusia, as well as the capacity to attract and retain talent from the whole of Spain, Europe and the world. Malaga is currently a very important technopole and business growth pole that has managed to become a hub for major national and international firms."

For her part, Srini Rao stressed that, "Malaga is a key strategic destination for competitiveness and talent attraction. We are therefore very proud to be able to add this centre to our GDS network and expand its services beyond Spain to serve EY clients in the whole of Europe."
