Hewlett Packard opens global centre of excellence in Spain

Company to invest 15 million euros over the next few years to hire 100 professionals

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has launched a global centre of excellence in artificial intelligence (AI) and data at its headquarters in Las Rozas (Madrid). Its goal will be to centralise the company's analytical talent and expertise to meet the growing worldwide demand for professional and consultancy services in this field. The centre will be integrated into HPE's global AI and data practice within its HPE Pointnext Services business.

Businesses and organisations in everything from public administration to finance, logistics, IT and healthcare will be able to benefit from this centre to help them harness the power of the data they process. The use of AI, data and advanced analytics will enable them to discover new information, create trusted transactions and use intelligence in new, ethical and safe ways.

Job creation
The US company has already started recruiting new professionals. Its strategy includes creating jobs for people starting out in their careers. It is negotiating with local universities to approach graduates and postgraduates in fields as diverse as AI, big data, analytics, computer science, physics, mathematics and engineering.

In total, HPE expects to recruit around 100 people over the next few years to serve its customers around the world, involving an investment of approximately 15 million euros. The centre has been installed in the Customer Technology Centre, where the company has been showcasing the most innovative technologies for the development of digital society since 2017.

A clear commitment to Spain
José María de la Torre, Senior VP and Managing Director of HPE Southern Europe, and President of HPE Spain, said, "The team's motivation for bringing this international centre to Spain has been to contribute to society, and it is Hewlett Packard Enterprise's clear commitment to Spain, a key country for the company for more than 50 years."

The Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence, Carme Artigas, explained at the opening of the centre that disruptive and high-impact technologies "are the key elements to drive sustainable development objectives and the resilience of energy production processes that have been forced to digitally transform."

Driving innovation
The President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, added, "Both AI and advanced analytics help people, and especially businesses, to achieve their objectives and will therefore increasingly require professional and consultancy services in this field.”

Finally, the company's Global Director of AI and Data Platforms, Luis Buezo, added, "We are building a team of people who can drive innovation with new data and AI use cases, learn and collaborate with HPE team members and partners, and further develop their careers in an exciting and fast-growing area."
