Spanish Government to allocate up to EUR 3.8 million in grants to projects boosting metaverse and Web3

This initiative encourages progress in the development of “Spain, Audiovisual Hub of Europe”, which is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan

The Spanish Government will allocate EUR 3.8 million to SMEs and freelancers based in Spain or the European Union who are working on experimental development and innovation projects in the field of Web3 and metaverse technologies. This initiative encourages progress in the development of “Spain, Audiovisual Hub of Europe”, which is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

The grants are open to both Spanish and EU nationals. They are specifically aimed at projects with one of the following objectives:

·  Innovative processes or prototyping related to new tools for audiovisual and digital content production.

·  Innovative processes or prototypes that make use of Web3 and metaverse technologies for social transformation. This also includes the integration of disadvantaged groups, with special focus on the gender gap.

·  Creation of new virtual work and collaboration spaces.

·  Innovative processes or prototypes that implement metaverse technologies in cultural, health or educational environments.

Applications can be submitted between 4 August and 31 August 2022, and the final deadline for implementing the supported projects will be 31 December 2023.
