Spain showcases audiovisual industry strength to delegation of US producers

This activity is part of the Audiovisual Industry Promotion Plan, 'Spain, Europe’s Audiovisual Hub'

The programme combines technical sessions, institutional meetings, site visits and meetings with companies, technicians and Spanish talent.

Her Majesty the Queen of Spain will be chairing a working session on Monday 9 May at ICEX Spain Trade and Investment.

The Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures, ICEX-Invest in Spain and the Spain Film Commission are organising a reverse training mission with the participation of around 40 executives from partner companies in the Motion Picture Association (MPA) in the United States and other top US audiovisual platforms and companies.

This activity is one of the measures implemented within the Audiovisual Sector Promotion Plan, ‘Spain Audiovisual Hub’, launched by the Spanish Government in March 2021.

The programme combines technical sessions, institutional meetings, site visits and meetings with companies, entrepreneurs, technicians and talent from the Spanish industry. The mission will take place between 8 and 14 May, and will be visiting several Spanish regions. The executives will participate in a working session chaired by Her Majesty the Queen of Spain to learn more about the Spanish audiovisual ecosystem on Monday 9 May.

They will also be visiting Seville, where they will spend a day making contacts with film commissions from all over Spain, and gathering information about possible locations for future shoots. The programme will be rounded off with a visit to the Canary Islands, to explore possible filming locations, and to gain a deeper understanding of the audiovisual business in this autonomous region, as well as its special tax system.

The aim of the mission is to increase knowledge of Spain's audiovisual industry among US stakeholders, highlighting its strengths, introducing them to the key operators, and publicising opportunities for filming and investing in Spain. Information will be provided on the legislative changes introduced by the government (especially in the areas of taxation and visas) and the investment efforts being made by Spain to become the Audiovisual Hub of Europe, as well as other issues.

The Directorate General of Migration; the Directorate General for Taxation; the Spanish Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA); the Spain Film Commission; ALIA - Audiovisual Industry Alliance; the Spanish Federation of Animation Producers' Association (DIBOOS); the Association of Post-Production Companies (AEPP); the Federation of Film Distributors (FEDICINE) and Spanish and American companies already established in Spain are some of the organisations who have contributed to the organisation of this mission.
