DAZN Chooses Spain as Pilot Market for First Online Store

The British sports streaming platform signed a deal with US-based Fanatics in August

The sports streaming platform DAZN opened its first online store, DAZN Shop, in Spain on 9 November. Thanks to the agreement that the British company signed last August with the American company Fanatics, its users will have access to an extensive catalogue of sports merchandise.

The e-commerce feature has been launched in Spain as a pilot market for its global expansion. This is a long-term strategic partnership that could be completed as early as 2023, with access to DAZN's more than 60 million customers through its app.

Official licence
The development of the online store will take place in several phases, with the aim of integrating a personalised experience. In this first phase, DAZN customers in Spain will now have access to officially licensed sports merchandise and apparel from Fanatics, whose catalogue includes more than 900 sports teams, leagues and organisations, including motor racing and football.

Over the coming months, DAZN will continue to develop the full integration with a target date of August next year. By then, a year after signing the agreement, it plans to offer a personalised proposition based on each customer's profile and their favourite teams and athletes. It will also have a unique wallet that will allow one-click purchases.

Growth trajectory
Bosco Aranguren, Managing Director of DAZN Spain, explained, “Our aim is to provide an increasingly relevant and innovative experience for sports fans and the launch of DAZN Shop is a big step in this direction. Since  3 August, all fans can easily access an extensive catalogue of officially licensed sports merchandise and enjoy their passion for the sports they love on our platform.”

From today, all fans can easily access an extensive catalogue of officially licensed sports merchandise and enjoy their passion for the sports they love on our platform. “This is a winning combination: Fanatics is a world leader in this space and DAZN has a huge, engaged and growing audience of sports fans.”

Fanatics president of business affairs Gary Gertzog, for his part, explained, "Finding new, innovative and improved ways to better serve sports fans is something we are constantly focused on, and making it easier for DAZN to bring a fully integrated product offering to its platform helps us achieve this."
