Zehnder boosts Spain and Portugal business with new acquisition

The Swiss group invests 86 million euros in the acquisition of the company Siber.
The Zehnder Group, which specialises in energy-efficient and healthy air conditioning solutions, has acquired the Spanish company Siber, a manufacturer of comprehensive residential ventilation systems, for a price of around 86 million euros. This operation will enable the Swiss group to strengthen its business in the home ventilation area.
According to Zehnder's statement, the acquisition of Siber, "one of the leading companies in the residential ventilation industry in Spain and Portugal", is a unique opportunity to strengthen its position in both markets, as well as in other neighbouring countries, in line with the group's growth strategy. Siber's attractive product portfolio, it explains, is perfectly adapted to the needs of its customers in Southern Europe and covers this segment.
High capacity for innovation
Zehnder Group CEO Matthias Huenerwadel explained that the acquisition of Siber "marks another milestone in the expansion of our regional residential ventilation business. The complementarity of customers and products, together with regional strength and a strong innovative capacity, make Zehnder and Siber a perfectly complementary combination.
The continuity of the Siber staff is guaranteed, as is clear from the words of Huenerwadel, who used the announcement to give "a warm welcome to the 120 new colleagues" with whom he hopes to "realise the potential for joint growth".
Improving energy efficiency
Siber specialises in comprehensive ventilation systems for new buildings, and has a significant market share in Spain and Portugal. Its birth coincided, in 2006, with the publication of the new Spanish Technical Building Code (Código Técnico de Edificación, CTE), mandatory in construction, and which introduced the improvement of energy efficiency in housing.
Throughout its history, the Spanish company has been improving its offer with increasingly efficient products, and now provides energy-efficient solutions in wind and mechanically intelligent ventilation. These systems, in addition to being environmentally friendly, are based on the premise of caring for the health, hygiene and comfort of the users.
Zehnder is a Swiss group founded in 1895, now run by the fifth generation of the founding family.
