PwC to strengthen Spanish workforce with 1,300 new hires by 2025

Growth areas include sustainability, cybersecurity, digital strategy and generative AI.

US consulting firm PwC is continuing to strengthen its workforce in Spain and, according to the company, it plans to close this year by hiring 1,300 new employees. The new hires will consist of around 500 experienced professionals and approximately 800 new graduates in the audit, consulting, legal and tax, and transaction departments.

The company’s current growth areas include sustainability, cybersecurity, digital strategy, generative artificial intelligence, cloud, automation and data analytics. As Gonzalo Sánchez, Chairman of PwC Spain, explained, these additions “reinforce the company’s commitment to talent and job creation. Our raison d’être is to support our clients in solving their most complex challenges, but also to open the doors to the labour market for thousands of people every year.”

Digital capabilities
Some of the company’s new employees will be based on the island of Tenerife. The company plans to hire 70 new professionals before the end of the year for its Digital and Technological Services Centre in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The company will thereby fulfil the commitment it made at the inauguration of its new headquarters to reach 200 professionals by 2025.

The Canary Islands facility opened its doors in February 2023 and offers digital capabilities that are in high demand on the market, such as AI solutions, low code, mobility, CRM and ERP platforms, and blockchain. This digital hub has worked on projects for a variety of industries, such as logistics and energy, and has tackled challenges relating to digital transformation, cybersecurity and responsible use of artificial intelligence, as well as other technologies.

Candidate profiles
The 70 employees that PwC plans to recruit will be selected from a pool of profiles with level II professional training, mainly in administration and finance, and from technical profiles with experience in multi-platform application development and networked computer systems administration. Complementary qualifications, such as vocational training in management assistance, will also be considered. Among the university profiles, digital professionals focused on business solutions, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and data analytics will all be sought after.

Prior to joining, new employees will undergo a comprehensive training programme to learn how to control office tools, presentations, business solutions and advanced business analytics solutions.
