45% of the Spanish company’s maritime terminal subsidiary acquired for 80 million euros.

Port operator Marsa Maroc has forged an important alliance with Boluda Corporación Marítima, a maritime services provider with a presence in all five continents. The Moroccan company, which operates 25 terminals in 11 African ports and more than 60 million tonnes of cargo a year, has acquired a 45% stake in the port operator Boluda Maritime Terminals (BMT), a subsidiary of Boluda Corporación Marítima.

The agreement, which has already been authorised by Marsa Maroc’s board of directors and is pending approval by the competent authorities, states that Marsa Maroc International Logistics (MMIL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Moroccan company, will carry out the transaction, for which it will pay 80 million euros.

Transport between the Iberian Peninsula and the Canary Islands archipelago
BMT has a presence in nine Spanish ports, between the Iberian Peninsula and the Canary Islands. In 2024, its terminals handled a volume of more than 1 million TEU (a standard measure in international maritime transport), playing a significant role in cargo flows between the Iberian Peninsula and the Canary Islands archipelago.

The alliance between the two companies paves the way for significant synergies that will enable them to combine their capabilities and complementary strengths in the management of port terminals. Marsa Maroc and Boluda Corporación Marítima share the ambition of strengthening their positioning in the Morocco–Spain corridor, an important maritime route linking both shores of the strait, and they also aspire to grow internationally, especially in Africa.

Capacity to forge strategic alliances
For Marsa Maroc, this is a key milestone that strengthens its presence on both sides of the strait and reaffirms its positioning in the region. By reaching 34 terminals across 20 ports, it not only takes a significant step forward in its expansion, but also underscores its ability to forge strategic alliances with major global players.

Boluda Maritime Terminals offers comprehensive port management and logistics services at its nine Spanish terminals, located in the ports of Las Palmas, Tenerife, La Palma, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Seville, Villagarcia, Cádiz (Concasa) and Santander. From these terminals, it offers its clients access to 11 maritime routes operated by its shipping division, Boluda Lines, which connect the Peninsula with the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, Northern Europe, Italy, the West African coast and Cape Verde.
