Gira acquires SmartClick to create the subsidiary Gira Ibérica

The aim is to move closer to customers, as this represent its fifth largest market in terms of business volume

The German company Gira, specializing in electromechanical and digital building control, has acquired a majority stake in the Spanish company SmartClick, which until now was its exclusive importer in the Spanish market. Gira's objective is to establish its own legally and financially independent distribution company on SmartClick's base.

According to Thomas Musial, sales manager at Gira; Guido Schmitz, sales manager for South, Central and Eastern Europe; and Germán López, managing partner of Gira Ibérica: “In spite of being majority shareholders we continue working on an equal basis. With our subsidiary Gira Ibérica in Barcelona and its team of 17 people, we want to leverage even more the vast potential of the Spanish market for our business in the future ”.

More resources and services
The three representatives of the German company explained the reasons for its acquisition: “This will allow us to be even closer to our customers and partners and gradually increase our penetration in the market. As part of the Gira group, we will also have more resources and services available to ensure we can do an even better job of satisfying our partner's needs in the future”.

Founded in 1905 in Radevormwald, Gira has been able to move with the times thanks to its systems for smart buildings. It has been operating in the Iberian market for some years now and in 2012 it signed an exclusive collaboration agreement with SmartClick which helped it to grow on the peninsula. Spain is the fifth largest market of the 41 destination countries for its products.
