Solera investing 25 million euros in Development and Innovation Centre of Excellence

The American multinational software company is making Spain the focal point of its global innovation development

The American multinational software company Solera is redoubling its commitment to Spain by investing a total of 25 million euros in a new Centre of Excellence (CoE) for development and innovation. During this first year, the investment made amounted to six million euros and the total amount will be invested over the next two years.

The CoE is located in Seville and will serve Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. It complements three other such centres in the world - in Madrid, Mexico and Bangalore (India) - making Spain the focal point of its global innovation development, from which the next generation of solutions for the automotive ecosystem will emerge (insurance companies, garages, and dealerships and fleets). According to Javier Velasco, Director of International Operations at Solera: “This is much more than a software factory, it’s really an innovation accelerator. At Solera, we have great ideas but our main difference is that we are specialists in industrialising innovation. In short, providing solutions to improve our clients’ businesses.”

The CoE will generate more than 300 highly skilled jobs, 272 of which are already operational, and bring together local and international talent in technology, specifically software development, quality control, data science and architecture, among other skills. Solera’s strategy for innovating and industrialising processes mainly revolves around Artificial Intelligence, which is behind one of its latest innovations, Qapter.

The American multinational has sought to export the American Administration-Business-University collaboration model for this centre, in order to generate a creative and disruptive ecosystem in the automotive insurance industry, and thus put real innovation into practice at a company level.
