Digitalization of Spanish public administration offers ICT companies new investment opportunities

The Spanish Government's Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan allocates 4.315 billion euros to modernize public bodies

The reform and modernization of Spanish public administration, in order to adapt it to the challenges of contemporary society, offers new investment opportunities for ICT companies. This transformation represents a solid commitment on the part of the Spanish government, and is reflected in the ‘Digital Spain 2025’ strategic plan. To achieve this, Component 11 of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan involve an estimated total investment of 4.315 billion euros.

One of the cornerstones of this plan is the digitalization of public administration and its processes through the introduction of new technologies. Investment is therefore envisaged to improve digital public services, through new technological and cybersecurity infrastructure, process automation, and the development of public data-based public services.

The areas of the Administration targeted by the digital transformation plan are health, justice, the Public Employment Service, social security, migration and inclusion policies and consulates, also being a launch pad for projects in the areas of interior and defence, agriculture and consumer affairs. Investment is also foreseen for the digital transformation and modernization of the Ministry for Regional Policy and Public Service, and administrative bodies at autonomous communities and  local authorities.
