GoStudent buys Tus Media edtech group

The Spanish company is the largest online class marketplace in the world with five million teachers

Online private class platform GoStudent has acquired a 100% stake in the Tus Media group, owner of four similar platforms offering these edtech services in different markets. Specifically, TusClasesParticulares.com, Voscours.fr, Letuelezioni.it and Classgap.com, which together account for five million teachers and four million students.

This makes the Spanish company the largest teacher marketplace in the world. Founded in 2011 and based in Barcelona, the company has consolidated its position as one of the main players in the Spanish education sector. The acquisition, the Austrian company’s first in Spain, is part of its growth strategy for this year.

A priority market
To address this strategy, GoStudent was recently granted 300 million euros in a series D funding round, taking its total value to 3 billion euros. Its interest in Spain is nothing new. Spain was the second country it expanded to, after France. Its workforce grew to 100 employees in its first year and is expected to double in 2022.

According to Felix Ohswald, CEO and co-founder of GoStudent, “Spain is a priority market for use where we want to become leaders. We are constantly listening to the needs of our customers, and operations such as this one will allow us to develop our offer and diversity our products”.

New challenges for the future
GoStudent claims that Tus Media is a perfect complement for it. In fact, becoming part of the Spanish market will extend its potential market to reach more families. Tus Media has 50 employees and operates worldwide. Its main markets are in Southern Europe and Latin America.

Albert Clemente, founder and CEO of Tus Media, will remain at the helm of the business and explains: “The acquisition by GoStudent will allow all Tus Media brands to address the new challenges for the future. The fact that GoStudent and Tus Media are combining forces will further strengthen the positioning of Tusclasesparticulares.com in Spain”.

Ohswald refers to Clemente as “one of the most passionate and dedicated entrepreneurs in the education sector that I have ever met”, he says: “Working side-by-side with him will allow us to become the leading school worldwide”.
