Schütz Ibérica opens production plant in Toledo

This is its second packaging systems factory in Spain after Tarragona, one of the largest in Europe

Schütz Ibérica, a subsidiary of the German Schütz Group, opened its second packaging systems factory in Spain at the beginning of November. The company, which also designs solutions for the construction, aerospace and industrial sectors, will produce its packaging systems for transporting liquid products manufactured by the chemical, lubricant and food sectors in Cazalegas (Toledo) near Talavera de la Reina.

The company's aim is none other than to understand the needs of its customers better, offer a local service and maintain a direct line of communication with them. This is why the company has once again chosen Spain as its base for further growth, despite having had a major European production centre - one of the largest in Europe - close to the petrochemical industrial area in Vila-seca (Tarragona) since 1995.

Optimising the supply chain
The new location brings the company closer to customers, making it possible to meet their needs with short transport routes and rapid response times, both for delivering new containers and for collecting empty ones. It does in this way help to optimise its customers' supply chains, in both economic and environmental terms.

The new Schütz plant will produce new units from its entire packaging range, as well as reconditioning used ones. Located some 100 kilometres from Madrid, it is situated in a 9,000 square metre production building that stands on a 27,000 square metre plot. The facility is equipped with the latest technology, and includes energy efficiency processes as key components in its design.

Eco-friendly packaging
The new factory is currently gearing up for the production of its Green Layer range of environmentally friendly packaging. For used containers, a dedicated high-tech reconditioning line has been installed to ensure environmentally friendly recycling.

Safety is very important in this sector, and the factory meets the most stringent requirements aimed at guaranteeing cleanliness and minimising risk. Like the rest of the group's plants, it has been awarded the FSSC 22000 international food safety certification.
