Octopus Energy opens new headquarters in Valencia to keep growing

The British renewable energy company expects to double its staff this year to 200 employees

Energy company Octopus Energy has opened new headquarters in Valencia in a move designed to prepare it for growth in the coming years. With a presence in Spain since 2021, the subsidiary has its main headquarters in Valencia, where it expects to double its workforce to 200 employees this year.

One hundred recruits will support the United Kingdom’s third largest energy company’s growth plans in Spain. The recognition it has received for its work culture, such as the one from Glassdoor naming it the ‘best company to work for’, make this an attractive option for new employees.

Launch platform
The objective for this year is to achieve commercial growth by increasing its customer base six-fold from today's 15,000 to 100,000. At the same time, this growth, which is initially aimed at the Valencian Community, will serve as a platform for its subsequent expansion throughout Spain.

Octopus Energy España's new offices have more than 1,300 square metres of useful space on three floors. And in line with the company's values, the offices at 5 Calle Pintor Sorolla are designed with efficiency and environmental criteria in mind. The noise-absorbing ceiling and carpets improve the acoustics inside, and the equipment has been designed with employee well-being in mind, with 130 ergonomic workstations.

Strategic relevance
To mark the official opening of its headquarters, Octopus Energy held its quarterly management meeting on the site, which was attended by the firm's founder Greg Jackson and the CEOs of the nine countries where it operates. This is the first meeting of this level held outside the United Kingdom, a landmark that underlines Spain's importance in the company's strategic growth.

The CEO of the Spanish subsidiary, Roberto Giner, said, “At Octopus Energy España we are committed to the transition towards a more sustainable and fair model for people and the planet. With the inauguration of our energy efficient offices, not only are we taking a step towards reducing our environmental footprint, but we also offering our employees a safe and healthy workplace, while contributing to the growth and economic development of the Valencian Community.”
