Dabico Airport Solutions to open Gijón plant to achieve Europe growth

Located within the port facilities, the company will manufacture components for aviation and maritime installations

Dabico Airport Solutions, a manufacturer of components for aviation and maritime installations, has started the construction of a new production plant in Gijón (Asturias) in order to expand its presence in the European market. The aim is to have the facility operational by the end of this spring. “This expansion marks an important step forward for us,” said the US company.

The new plant in Gijón will also serve to reinforce Dabico Airport Solutions' production capacity, especially in some key product lines, such as preconditioned passenger boarding bridges, which it develops for both air and sea vessels.

Activity hub in Spain
The company says it has a skilled workforce and that the plant's location, within the port infrastructure of the Asturian city, will facilitate efficient access to both customers and suppliers, and will benefit from a first-class infrastructure. In addition to the new factory, the company’s commitment to Gijón includes converting its facilities in the city into its main centre from which all Dabico's activities in Spain will be managed.

With over 50 years’ experience, Dabico specialises in designing and manufacturing components for airports and seaports around the world. Efficiency and respect for the environment are among its premises for developing solutions that improve people traffic, reduce operating costs and boost safety.

Third plant outside the United States
The Asturias plant will be the company's fifth plant and the third outside the United States, along with those in Germany and the United Kingdom. With a presence in over 10 countries and around 250 employees, Dabico manufactures products like passenger boarding bridges, power systems, cooling systems, fuelling solutions, wet services (ventilation, air conditioning, fire sprinklers, etc.) and accessories.

Dabico also offers a wide range of services, including engineering and design, repair, modernisation and on-site maintenance. In March, the company installed its Jet Cable Friend system at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat airport. This runway cable management system ensures the safety of passengers, aircraft and airport staff, while optimising operational efficiency.
