Elis invests six million euros in new facility to continue growing in Spain

It will create fifty jobs at its third clean-room laundry plant .

The workwear company Elis has started up its new industrial laundry plant for clean rooms in Granollers (Barcelona). It has been seven months since the company announced its expansion in Spain with the opening of this new facility. This is the French company's third clean-room laundry plant in Spain, which "marks an important milestone" in its commitment to excellence and innovation, according to the company.

Designed to serve industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, electronics and food, which require low levels of particulate contamination, the plant is equipped with the latest technology and meets the highest industry standards, including ISO 5 and ISO 7 certifications, which set the benchmark for excellence in controlled environments.

Job creation
The new plant has involved an investment of €6 million  and the creation of 50 new jobs. The company's facility, which specialises in rental and maintenance services for workwear and textile equipment, occupies a total of 1,500 square metres.

In its first phase, Elis Cleanroom started its activity with a capacity of 59,000 items per week, with the objective of reaching 98,000 items per week in the second phase.

Fifty years of international expansion
Since Théophile Leducq and his family opened their first laundry in 1883 in Pantin, on the outskirts of Paris, the company has expanded to twenty-nine countries. Spain and Belgium were the first, in 1973. That first internationalisation took place through the purchase of other companies and in 2016, Elis once again made a purchase in Spain,  Indusal. In its 51 years of presence in our country, the company has now reached 35 centres, with around 3,500 employees.

The CEO of Elis in Spain, Mathieu Chapelle, is very proud "to open this plant in Granollers, a facility that represents the future of industrial laundry for clean-rooms", and explained, "This investment enables us to not only meet the current needs of our customers, but also to prepare for future demands and to ensure a high quality and reliable service."
