Ceva Logistics expands Tarragona port facilities
It will invest 9 million euros to increase its operational capacity by 94,000 square metres.
French company Ceva Logistics, headquartered in Marseilles and specialising in third-party logistics, has announced that it will invest 9 million euros in expanding and modernising its finished vehicle logistics (FVL) facilities in the La Laboral area, next to the Port of Tarragona. This move will strengthen its position in FVL in Europe, where it is already one of the leading operators in both the segment and the Mediterranean.
The largest share of the investment will go towards adding 94,000 square metres of operating space, which will be fitted with protective anti-hail netting. This major expansion will significantly boost operational capacity by creating space for an additional 4,500 vehicles, bringing the total to 32,500 spaces. Indeed, this operation responds to growing demand in Spain for greater finished vehicle logistics capacity.
Investment to improve equipment
In addition to this expansion, the project includes infrastructure modernisation, with investment to improve workshop equipment. Among other items, a new vehicle wash tunnel will be installed and the paint booths will be renewed and expanded. Enhancements will also be made to vehicle storage and distribution processes.
The planned works at Ceva Logistics’ facilities next to the port of Tarragona will enable the company to handle higher operating volumes in the Mediterranean region. Among other benefits, the company will be able to offer car manufacturers greater speed, security and flexibility.
Growth in strategic market
Eric Dessupoiu, Vice-President of the French company’s FVL division, said, “This investment in our finished vehicle logistics centre at the Port of Tarragona will strengthen our capacity to operate more than 65 hectares, offering capacity for 32,500 spaces. Thanks to this expansion of the vehicle storage area, the immediate proximity to the port, the available rail connections, our on-site workshops and our distribution capabilities, we have the assets needed to support our growth – and that of our customers – in this strategic market.”
