German pharmaceutical company Fresenius Kabi has inaugurated its new IT hub in Barcelona. As well as strengthening its presence in Spain and its strategic role within the group as a centre of innovative technological capabilities, it will also support the company’s business worldwide. The new centre expands these technological capabilities and will create more than 60 new jobs.

The launch of the new hub will support Fresenius’ transformation process by creating state-of-the-art platforms with harmonised business processes across the entire company. Its goal is to build a resilient, reliable and high-performing information technology (IT) organisation for the future.

Improving efficiency
Employees at the new hub will develop digital solutions and harness artificial intelligence to help the company deliver greater value to patients and customers, while also boosting efficiency across the entire process, from production and the supply chain through to healthcare, optimising treatment quality and making it easier to access cutting-edge therapies.

The more than 60 new employees will be spread across various technology areas and will work at Fresenius’s offices located in Torre Mapfre, in Barcelona’s Olympic Port.

Key differentiating factor
Fresenius Kabi Chief Information Officer Edward Mandic said, "Our IT hub in Barcelona will accelerate our digital transformation, becoming a key differentiator for Fresenius Kabi’s business worldwide. Being in a city that is as innovative and with as much international prominence as Barcelona is an added value that makes us even more attractive as a company in Spain."

Fresenius has a long track record in Spain through the hospital operator Quirónsalud and Fresenius Kabi, which supplies essential medicines, clinical nutrition and medical technologies for critical and chronic patients.
