With a capacity of 15,000 litres per hour, it represents part of the 10 million euros invested by the company in the factory since 2020.

Heineken has strengthened its Jaén factory with the commissioning of a new packing line that will produce a new format: a shrink-wrapped 1L PET  bottle. The new facility has the capacity to produce up to 15,000 litres per hour, and is aligned with the strategy launched in 2018 to move further into the beer alternatives segment, expand its range and respond to new consumer trends.

The packing line produces the Ladrón de Verano drinks and their 0.0% variants. The commitment to PET is aimed at strengthening a format that represents approximately 90% of the category’s volume.

A strategic asset
Since 2020, the Dutch company has invested 10 million euros in its Jaén plant, which it regards as a strategic asset and a sustainability benchmark for the sector, in both Spain and Europe. In 2025, the brewery became the first in Spain and Heineken’s first worldwide to produce all its products using 100% renewable energy.

The plant was also a pioneer in obtaining “zero waste to landfill” certification and in achieving water balance. Last year it was the company’s best-performing factory thanks to its excellent efficiency and water consumption metrics, as well as being a leader in productivity and a benchmark in continuous improvement. Among other initiatives, it uses biomass from olive pruning waste to generate renewable thermal energy.

Developing new products
The Jaén plant stands out at the company, as a modern, highly flexible facility that can easily adapt to market dynamics and take on new challenges in both industrial and consumer areas, giving it a highly significant role in the development of new products.

Heineken Spain’s Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, Carmen Ponce, notes, “Our ambition is to continue demonstrating that competitiveness and sustainability go hand in hand. Every industrial advance brings us closer to a more innovative, more efficient company that is better prepared to face the challenges of the future, placing all our capacity for innovation at the service of the growth and development of regions such as Jaén.”
