Denso Barcelona to increase its workforce through 2020

The plant has received 70 million euros in investment in recent years and will grow by 200 employees

According to a press release, the Barcelona plant of the Japanese multinational Denso, located in Sant Fruitós de Bages will increase its workforce to 1,000 by 2020. This amounts to the creation of 200 new jobs, in addition to the 200 generated since 2015, when the workforce totaled 600.

The company's plant produces electronic components and powertrain systems for automobile brands such as Toyota, Volvo and Mazda. It now aims to extend its portfolio by providing a service for other clients such as Ford and General Motors.

Industry 4.0
The Denso Barcelona plant has received €70 million in investment in recent years. This is €10 million more than expected at the launch of the modernization plan with which the company began to automate its production lines and introduced industry 4.0 manufacturing systems in the work processes, as well as acquiring a new building.

According to Denso forecasts, the Catalan plant will generate sales of €380 million, 11.1% more than in 2017, and the figure is expected to increase to €400 million in 2020.
