The aim of this document is to give a didactic outline of the new regime for direct foreign investment in Spain. (act. March 2024)
Spain has modified its model for the control of foreign investment in application of Regulation (EU) 19/452 of 19 March 2019 for the control of foreign direct investment. Spain is one of the foremost receivers of foreign investment in the world. Spain welcomes foreign investment with open arms. As a general principle, foreign investments in Spain do not require any administrative authorization, except for investments in activities directly related to National Defense or those that affect public order, public safety and public health.
