Leroy Processing Spain to build a new factory in Madrid

Relocating the current premises will enable it to deliver on its growth plans in Spain
Leroy Processing Spain, the Spanish subsidiary of the Norwegian group Leroy Seafood, will relocate its central offices and factory in Madrid to meet the demands of its growth plan. Leroy Seafood is Norway's largest exporter of seafood and the world's second largest producer of Atlantic salmon. It has operated in Spain since January 2013, and last year its Spanish facilities produced over six million trays of prepared seafood dishes, as well as many other products.
The company's premises are currently in Pinto (Madrid). On its website, Leroy announced that it has acquired land in the same town where it plans to move, expand and overhaul its facilities. The new complex—including a new factory and the central offices in Spain—will allow Leroy Processing Spain to deliver on its growth and expansion plans across its different business lines. The deal will involve an investment of 17 million euros, according to Alimarket.
Four plants in Spain
The company currently has four production centers in Spain, employing a total of 429 people. Their core business is the processing of fish and prepared dishes. The centers are located in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Alicante.
The company produces four product lines in Spain: bulk fresh and frozen products; primary processed products mainly for wholesalers and the retail sector; MAP (modified atmosphere packaging) tray products for the retail sector, and international ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat products (fourth and fifth range)
The Valencia factory, which was launched in 2018, now has 65 employees who produce around 60,000 sushi pieces every day. As Antonio Díez, CEO of Leroy in Spain, explains, "healthy Asian cuisine is bceoming very popular in the Spanish market, and we are now specialized in pre-cooked dishes such as sushi. These products are increasingly popular with consumers in Spain”.
